ADMISSION HIGHLIGHTS FAILINGS OF NUCLEAR POWER - HUHNE12.00.00am GMT Tue 6th Feb 2007 Commenting on today's admission by the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) that waste from the Dounreay nuclear site was illegally dumped between the 1960s and 1980s, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said: "This admission has been another blow to the credibility of the nuclear industry, which has yet to deliver a new reactor on time or to budget in this country. "Not a single new nuclear reactor has been built without taxpayer subsidy anywhere in the world since the accidents at Three Mile Island and Chernobyl. "These British incidents show that the UK industry still has to address its safety issues as well."
