RISE IN EMISSIONS FROM POWER GENERATION LOOMS - HUHNE10.30.00am GMT Wed 28th Mar 2007 Commenting on the publication of today's [Wednesday] WWF report on UK power sector emissions, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said: "This report shows the dramatic rise in carbon emissions as coal has gradually become cheaper relative to gas, and highlights the enormous problem the Government will have meeting its climate change targets. "Ministers got lucky when the 'dash for gas' cut the carbon emissions from power generation, but now their luck has turned. "The Government must urgently set out a comprehensive energy efficiency and renewables strategy for moving to a low carbon economy."
