CAMERON SHOULD DISOWN SCOTLAND'S "TOXIC TORIES" - HUHNE11.13.19am GMT Thu 26th Apr 2007 The Liberal Democrats today challenged David Cameron to disown Scotland's "Toxic Tories" after Friends of the Earth gave their manifesto nought out of ten for its environmental content. Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said that the Scottish Conservative manifesto confirmed that most of the Tory party - north and south of the border - is ignoring David Cameron's attempt to rebrand them as green. Commenting, Chris Huhne said: "Far from voting blue and going green, environmentally minded voters will go purple with anger when they find out what the Tories actually do, rather than what they say. The Toxic Tories are still miles off the green agenda. "We have example after example of the Tory party sticking to its old reputation as the least green party in the whole of Europe, regardless of the touchy feely attempts at rebranding by Mr Cameron. "The new Conservatives are just the old Tory party with a fresh face and a few warm words about climate change. Parties should be judged by what they do, not what they say."
