GOVERNMENT TRYING TO WRIGGLE OUT OF RENEWABLE ENERGY TARGET - HUHNE1.22.53pm GMT Mon 13th Aug 2007 The Liberal Democrats have today accused the Government of trying to wriggle out of its environmental commitments, in response to a leaked ministerial document admitting that Britain will not meet its renewable energy targets. Commenting on the leaked paper, available on request from the Liberal Democrat Press Office, Liberal Democrat Shadow Environment Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said: "This leaked paper shows that ministers are not trying to meet their renewables targets but instead are trying to wriggle out of them. "If Government efforts are now to be taken seriously, and not just seen as green window-dressing, ministers must now come forward with an action plan to boost renewables. "They must start with a full appraisal of a Severn generation scheme that could provide five to seven per cent of all UK electricity needs
