New Foot-and-Mouth outbreak would cause anger and depression

Commenting on the new suspected outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease in Surrey today, Liberal Democrat Shadow Defra Secretary, Chris Huhne MP said:

"If this incident is confirmed as foot-and-mouth, the farming community will be rightly angry and depressed that the likely failings of biosecurity have continued.

"Given the enormous potential cost to the rural economy of foot-and-mouth we must just pray that this is a false alarm."
